AL02 is a cooling system overload. The most common cause is a clogged air filter or condenser, especially in hot weather or on chillers that have run for a few years without cleaning.

Clear the alarm

Press and hold POW (or ENT on some units) for about 3 seconds. If the pump and compressor start and AL02 comes back shortly after, the chiller is not getting enough airflow.

Causes and what to check

  • Dirty air filter or condenser. Remove the front filter and clean the filter and condenser fins with compressed air, cleaner and a soft brush. This fixes most AL02 alarms.
  • Blown fan fuse. Check fuses F90 and F901 (2 A). Spare fuses are stored in the electrical box.
  • Fan motor failure. If the fan does not spin, the motor winding may be burned out. Replace the fan motor.
  • Damaged fan blade. A broken or unbalanced blade reduces airflow. Replace the fan.
  • Compressor overload (F2) tripped. Check the setting and reset. If it trips again after cleaning, the compressor may be failing.
Model F2 overload setting
CIL301 4.6 A
CIL501 6.0 A
CIL751 11.5 A
CIL1101 12.5 A
CIL1501 15 A
CIL2201 18 A

If contactor K2 stays engaged after the overload trips, the compressor needs replacing. Call us.

Still showing the alarm?

Call 847-466-5459 or email admin@industrynestparts.com with the alarm code, the chiller model and serial number from the nameplate, your machine model, and the supply voltage and frequency. If you can, press the PARA key and send us the parameter readings shown on the display. That lets us find the cause and the right part on the first call.
