Choosing an Aryung ACP Coolant Pump: F, HF, MF, HMFS or HMFD

On By IndustryNest / 0 comments

Choosing a coolant pump comes down to two numbers: how much flow the machine needs and how much head it takes to get the coolant there. Flood coolant needs plenty of flow at low head. Through-spindle coolant needs far less flow at much higher head.

ACP families compared

These are the ranges from Aryung's coolant pump catalog. Check the exact model, because the figures below are series limits.

Series Flow 60 Hz (L/min) Max head 60 Hz (m) Motor (W) Typical use
ACP-F 30 to 200 13 60 to 400 General machine tools, flood coolant
ACP-HF 20 to 310 22 180 to 600 Machines that need more lift than F
ACP-MF 200 to 340 65 400 to 4000 Larger machines, high flow
ACP-HMFS 30 160 1100 to 4000 Large precision machines, high head
ACP-HMFD 20 295 4000 to 5500 Very high head, vertical or horizontal

Four questions before you order

  1. Is this a like-for-like replacement? If yes, match the nameplate. See how to read Aryung model numbers.
  2. How deep is the tank? The pump's immersion depth has to fit. The ACP-180F is 180 mm, while the ACP-1100MF is 245 mm.
  3. Has anything changed on the machine? A pump that worked for flood coolant can't feed through-spindle tooling. Long pipe runs and check valves also add resistance that a low-head pump can't overcome.
  4. What fluid are you pumping? Aryung recommends cutting oil under 32 cSt. Thicker fluid cuts flow and heats the motor.

Reading head and flow together

Flow falls as head rises, so a pump won't deliver its top flow and top head at the same time. Use the performance chart on each product page to find your operating point.
